Our Projects
The centres and programmes WAND has built, equipped and supported since 1998.
Our charity began in the 1990s by providing financial aid to destitute single women struggling to provide for their families. Over the years we’ve come to the realization that charity must be provided in a way that enables sustainability, and our best efforts could only materialize through partnerships and providing support to individuals through other charitable entities. These are the results.
Patna-Riverside Police Youth Centre
Furnishing a kitchen, library and computer room for the Patna/River Estate Police Youth Club, and running weekly literacy sessions with its young people.

Couva Children’s Home and Crisis Nursery
Building a music room, buying steelpans and instruments, and funding two years of music tuition for the children of the home.

Palo Seco Women’s Drug Rehabilitation Centre
A purpose-built residential drug rehabilitation centre for up to 30 women and girls, the only one of its kind in the Caribbean, raised and built by WAND.

Tunapuna Development Centre and Vocational School
A vocational school for 100 displaced and challenged young people, constructed and fully equipped by WAND for the Eternal Light Community.

A vocational training centre beside a shelter for battered women and children, where residents learn skills that lead to financial independence.

A donated nine-acre estate, now home to a residence for the elderly and a transition home for women leaving the Palo Seco centre.

Funding a summer camp for 35 children, then refurbishing the community centre so its after-school programmes could continue.

WAND Foundation was the first to donate computers to the Ministry of Education’s Adopt-A-School Initiative, in September 2020. Computers were given to Chinapoo Government Primary School, Febeau Government Primary School, Couva Children’s Home and Crisis Nursery and Morvant Anglican Primary School. We want to extend a sincere thank you to all of our corporate sponsors for making this possible.
We’ve also raised over $100,000 for Covid-19 related projects. We would like in particular to thank Scotiabank for their generous donations towards our food hamper distribution and laptop distribution projects.
